Sacraments

Lord’s Day 25

Q. 66 ~ What are the sacraments?

A. The sacraments are holy, visible signs and seals, appointed of God for this end, that by the use thereof He may the more fully declare and seal to us the promise of the gospel, namely, that He grants us freely the remission of sin and life eternal, for the sake of that one sacrifice of Christ accomplished on the cross.

Q. 68. How many sacraments has Christ instituted in the new covenant, or testament?

A. Two, namely, holy baptism and the holy supper.

Lord’s Supper

The sacrament of the LORD’S SUPPER pictures God’s work of sustaining salvation in His people. He shows them their union with Christ and constant need for the saving power of Jesus’ death. The sacrament is administered on the second Sunday of February, May, August, and November. Those non-members who wish to partake with the congregation must request permission from the elders.

Baptism

Holy baptism witnesses and seals unto us the washing away of our sins through Jesus Christ. Therefore we are baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
Most frequently, the sacrament is administered to infants of godly parents.

The Apostles’ Creed

Summarizes the fundamental truths of Scripture

I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary.
Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended to hell; The third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended to heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost. I believe an holy catholic church;
The communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins;
The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen.
